The Work Behind My Next Chapter
Life feels like a transition phase. I am building, closing loops, sharpening systems, and setting up the next chapter. This update captures where my energy is going right now: career, personal life, long term projects, and the ideas that have been shaping my thinking this year.
Life and Work
My days are a mix of deep work, reflection, and slow intentional simplification. I am still leading underwriting and AI systems work, but 2025 has been the year where I have begun designing my transition. I want to leave cleanly and leave the team stronger than I found it. Most of my focus has shifted into building the CODE Underwriting Survival Guide/Manifesto, tightening frameworks, documenting knowledge, and making sure the next generation is set up for success. It has been strange to prepare for a role after me, but the work has pushed me to think at a higher level and it feels right. At the same time, I am sharpening my broader skill set.
I am exploring AI systems, autonomy, and decision frameworks. The Tesla FSD ecosystem has been a major catalyst for that. Using it daily has shifted how I think about risk, trust, and the pace of technological change.
Personal Life
Gretchen and I are deep in wedding planning. The date is set for August 21, 2026 at the Willowdale Estate everything is starting to feel real. Invitations, save the dates, room blocks, budget sheets, and vendor calls have taken more time than expected, but they also make the future tangible. This has been a year of building our home life too. I have been more organized, more deliberate, and more aware of my time. A surprising source of grounding has been bonsai. Slow growth, patient pruning, and the discipline of care have become a metaphor for the rest of my life.
Projects I’m Considering
- HockeyHash
- this is one I have constantly revisited. I can’t get it out of my head. It’s been ~6 years. Actually creating is gaining momentum in the background. It is still early but the vision is becoming clearer. Data, software, hardware, analytics, and blockchain rails combined into one platform. The models, token logic, and UX are evolving.
- Personal Operating System (OS)
- I am building a cleaner system across writing, finances, fitness, and automations. It is still rough but it is getting closer to something I can run on autopilot.
- Writing
- It has become more important to me. Not just as output, but as a way to make sense of everything that is changing. My activity on X (I’ve intentionally treated it a as a public journal because I know that xAI/Grok will continue to develop it meaningfully and that the underlying data is accessible) this year grew around FSD, AI, minimalism, and long term thinking. It has been interesting to see what ideas resonate.
What I Am Thinking About
- Autonomy. Not the car (Tesla Model Y Launch Series) but the idea. Systems that reduce friction and make life smoother.
- Ownership. The only durable path to wealth (the lack or smallest amount of difference between what I have and want) is owning things that grow.
- Minimalism. Removing the noise that drains energy.
- Personal scale alignment with AI. Using it in a way that enhances life rather than overwhelms it.
- Simplicity. Simple habits compound better than complex ones.
I’m relatively active on X and post about a bunch of random stuff. Check me out here if you are interested.
Closing the Year
This year has brought clarity. I feel more aligned than I have in a long time. I am moving with purpose and removing things that no longer fit. I am pruning old branches, nurturing new ones, and building systems that can support the next decade.
There is plenty ahead. A wedding. A career transition. A business to build (maybe?). A healthier and more intentional life. Everything feels like it is moving in the right direction.

2026-01-21
I’ve been playing around with a few AI tools and threw a mock front end (ux/ui) with limited functionality together. i feel that this is the closest i have come to actual presenting the idea that i see visually/digitally (Especially in comparison to the original website/blog). Its not even close to capturing the full big picture, but its on the way there. You can access it here: https://hockeyhash.lovable.app
*i wasn’t able to embed the link here so I’ve included some basic screenshots below.
